Abstract

Background:
Men who have sex with men (MSM) represent a key population at increased risk for HIV infection globally. Understanding the epidemiological characteristics and influencing factors of HIV infection in MSM is essential for targeted prevention and control.
Objective:
To analyze the HIV infection status and associated influencing factors among MSM in Jilin Province from 2018 to 2022.
Methods:
A retrospective study was conducted using surveillance data and behavioral survey results of MSM in Jilin Province over five years. Data collected included demographics, sexual behavior, condom use, HIV testing history, and co-infections. HIV status was confirmed through laboratory testing. Logistic regression analysis was employed to identify factors associated with HIV infection.
Results:
Between 2018 and 2022, [XXX] MSM individuals were tested, with an overall HIV prevalence of [X.X%]. Factors significantly associated with higher HIV infection risk included inconsistent condom use (OR = X.X, 95% CI: X.X–X.X), multiple sexual partners (OR = X.X), history of sexually transmitted infections (OR = X.X), and lack of regular HIV testing (OR = X.X) (p < 0.05). The highest infection rates were observed in the age group [XX–XX] years.
Conclusion:
HIV infection remains a serious public health challenge among MSM in Jilin Province. Prevention efforts should focus on promoting consistent condom use, regular testing, and STI treatment to reduce transmission risk in this population.
