Abstract
Background:
Adolescence is a critical developmental stage marked by physical, psychological, and sexual maturation. Understanding sexual mental health during this period is vital for promoting healthy development and preventing risky behaviors.
Objective:
To investigate the current status of sexual mental health among middle school students in Tacheng Area of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and to identify influencing factors.
Methods:
A cross-sectional survey was conducted among [number] middle school students selected by stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire assessing knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and psychological well-being related to sexual health. Statistical analyses explored associations between demographic variables and sexual mental health outcomes.
Results:
The overall level of sexual mental health awareness was moderate, with significant gaps in knowledge about safe sexual practices and reproductive health. Factors significantly associated with better sexual mental health included higher parental education, access to health education, and open family communication (p < 0.05). Students reporting poor mental health were more likely to engage in risky behaviors and experience psychological distress.
Conclusion:
