Abstract

Objective:
To assess the level of health literacy regarding infectious diseases and to explore the influencing factors among residents in the Xiaoliangshan Yi region, with the aim of providing evidence for targeted health education and intervention strategies.
Methods:
A cross-sectional survey was conducted among residents in Xiaoliangshan Yi region using a structured questionnaire covering knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) related to infectious diseases. Demographic and socioeconomic data were also collected. Health literacy levels were categorized and statistical analyses, including multivariate logistic regression, were performed to identify factors associated with higher or lower literacy.
Results:
The overall health literacy level on infectious diseases among the residents was relatively low, with significant gaps in knowledge and preventive practices. Literacy levels were significantly associated with age, education level, household income, and access to health information (p < 0.05). Residents with higher education and more frequent exposure to health promotion materials showed better health literacy.
Conclusion:
Health literacy on infectious diseases among residents in Xiaoliangshan Yi region remains insufficient, particularly among older, less educated, and lower-income groups. Culturally tailored health education programs and improved access to health information are recommended to enhance literacy and promote disease prevention in this population.
