Investigation and improvement measures on the current situation of nutritional literacy among residents in Changsha
Abstract
Abstract
This study aims to investigate the current status of nutritional literacy among residents in Changsha and to propose targeted improvement measures. Using a cross-sectional survey design, a representative sample of residents from various districts in Changsha was assessed through standardized questionnaires covering knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to nutrition. The findings reveal a moderate level of nutritional literacy overall, with significant gaps observed in understanding balanced diets, nutrient functions, and healthy eating practices. Demographic factors such as age, education level, and income were found to influence nutritional literacy significantly. Based on the results, tailored intervention strategies including community education programs, improved access to nutritional information, and collaboration with healthcare providers are recommended to enhance residents’ nutritional literacy. This study provides a foundation for public health policy development aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles and preventing nutrition-related chronic diseases in Changsha.
